Hunting Widows Weekend

November 6

I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls. They always say it’s such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her. ~ Ellen DeGeneres

Deer season opened. For the time being, I would not recommend long, slow walks in the woods. Hunting season produces hunting widows. They can be seen around and about at such venues as Carlos Creek Winery. We forgot all about that as we arrived to a large crowd of folks on the premises on Saturday – we were there for our second consecutive weekend as audience for Elsa Lee . . .

[As you may recall, we were here the previous weekend with a whole bunch of folks, most Class of ’65ers. We thought that would be the last weekend for outdoor music – we left after 2 hours of Elsa’s 3-hour session. She moved inside for her last hour. [Well, this weekend was even lovelier. The temperature was in the low 60’s, people were out and about in short sleeves, and we stayed with Elsa outside for the full 3 hours . . . ]
