This event offered we locals a wonderful opportunity to escape from the mind-numbing boredom of the NFL draft . . .
This is an annual event (though pandemicked out last year) where those so inclined meet up to watch the Kentucky Derby while simultaneously raising funds for Theatre L’Homme Dieu. It is also an event for announcing the upcoming season. The season this year will be a continuously moving target under ongoing pandemic protocols. This year we stumbled into an unlikely 83-degree May 1 date so we could celebrate outdoors at Lure Lakebar, separated by County Road 42, a state designated scenic highway, from beautiful Lake Le Homme Dieu . . .
